We also learned some fun and inventive ways to walk on campus to show everyone that we are Ambassadors of Excellence '

Ask your students about "the Snape", "The Caterpillar" and "The Tunnel"

ELA homework

Hello!
Each student received a new non-fiction article today about growth mindset. Remember, reading, especially non-fiction text is a big focus at the school as a whole, and especially in 6th grade. Please use this time to work with your child on understanding what they are reading.

Their homework for tonight is to read the article and then use context clues to help them figure out the meaning of the unknown words listed on the back of the first page. Here is a sneak peek for the week of homework. I will try to update everyday still :)

Monday: Read article and context clues worksheet (back of 1st page)
Tuesday: Reread article, chunk, square main ideas, and underline supporting details for EACH chunk
Wednesday: Reread article and one sentence summaries for EACH summary
Thursday: Reread and comprehension question worksheet (2nd page)

The Great Backpack Clean-Out

Today in Mrs. Stewart's homeroom we started the day by dumping our backpacks out onto the desk and proceeded to sift through everything to make sure your child is carrying only what is absolutely necessary for the school day.  I handed out many plastic bags that the students filled with their stuff that needs to stay home until needed at school.  Please help them remember to unpack their bags of these extras.
