Peck-Science Homework

The students watched a balloon and bottle demonstration that incorporated all the types of heat transfer we have learned about in addition to what happens to air molecules when they are heated or cooled.

Homework: The students need to write two paragraphs that explain the types of heat transfer we witnessed in today's demonstration and what happens to air molecules when they are heated or cooled.

Peck-Science homework

Today the students discovered that they found the dew point in yesterday's lab.  We defined dew point then answered some questions that refer to how water vapor and temperature affect the dew point.  That students were also assigned a Response Sheet that challenges them to apply what they have learned regarding humidity and energy transfer. 

**Home work: Complete pg. 33-35 in Lab Notebooks for Thursday

Today the students performed an investigation that proved condensation begins at a particular temperature.  This temperature is called the dew point!

Peck-Science Homework

Today the students reviewed the concepts of evaporation and condensation then defined humidity and relative humidity.  The students also learned how to calculate relative humidity when given a water vapor chart.

HW: Complete Questions 2 and 3 on page 31 in your Lab Notebooks

**WE NEED 2 LITER BOTTLES! We will be doing an experiment this week that requires 2 liter bottles. If you have any, please send them in with your child!
 
**A permission slip went home with your child today regarding our upcoming trip to the AZ Science Center. Please send the completed form in with your child ASAP. If you are interested in chaperoning, please indicate this on the form!

Period 2 conducted an investigation to prove that there is water vapor in the air.  We learned about the process of condensation and how it occurs in the atmosphere. 
 
Periods 3 and 4 reflected on their test performance and planned an investigation that proves there is water vapor in the air.
 
Period 5 collected 500 points and had their free day today.
 
Homework: Test Retakes for Periods 3 and 4 are due for tomorrow!

The students in Periods 2 and 5 reflected on their Investigation 5 Test scores.  Those students that received a grade less than 70% were allowed to retake the test.  They are allowed to use their notebooks and binders to complete the questions.  These must be turned in tomorrow during class.
 
Periods 3 and 4 took the Investigation 5 Test today.

The students performed a lab based on density; which involved layering different colored salt solutions in a straw. They will learn how to calculate density and form a conclusion as to why the salt solutions layered the way they did tomorrow.
