Science: We made clouds and lava lamps today which enhanced our understanding of density and the convection process.

Language Arts: The students discussed Chapter 6 and began reading chapter 7 of Number the Stars

Science: The students discussed how pressure, temperature, condensation, and evaporation are involved in the formation of clouds
Homework: Bring in 2C of vegetable oil, small disposable water bottle and a Clear 2 Liter bottle if you have one!

Stewart- ELA

We are starting a Learning Cycle of Greek and Latin Roots.
Your child has been given a list of 10 root words that will be added to the spelling list (and test) for this week.
I will give them the word and they will write down the meaning.  For a bonus point they can give me a new word (not one of the examples from any of the information given out) that uses the root word.
 
Reading- Where is Security? Comprehension/ Vocab due on Thursday.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Finished a packet on Sparta and Athens.
We will be working on an art project the next two days.

Language Arts: The students began reading Number the Stars today.  They will also be responsible for answering different types of questions relating to the assigned chapters each day.
Homework: Answer the 8 questions and summary requirements for Chapter 1
 
Science: The students completed a notebook quiz and began answering questions related to the Convection article.
Homework: Questions from the "Convection" article.  Study for the test tomorrow!!!

SOCIAL STUDIES

We are working on creating a FOLDABLE for Ch 3: The Ancient Israelites.  (see p. 77 of the textbook for an example)  I have given the students some notecards but they may need more.  Each day we will discuss the section they worked on previously, and begin work on the next section. ( WED: should have Sec 1 completed)( THURS: Sec 2)
(FRI:  Sec 3)  THERE WILL BE A TEST NEXT WEEK and the students will be allowed to use their Foldable on the test.
 
Cards should contain the following information:  Main Idea and supporting evidence of the section and of the sub-headings, vocabulary and definitions.

Language Arts: The students discussed the difference between tone and mood and how they help the author create a story. The students worked collaboratively on identifying the main parts of the plot in "Space Rock"

Science: The Investigation 5 Test will be next Tuesday! (See Teacher Calendar).  We worked on the lab report by discussing our results from yesterday's experiment.

Study Guide will be covered on Tuesday.  If a student comes to class without the study guide 100% completed they will be given the opportunity to finish in the adjacent room.  However, they will miss out on the discussion as we go over the correct responses.

On Friday a Study Guide will be given.  It is NOT homework as your child will work on it in class on Monday.  On Tuesday IF THE STUDY GUIDE IS 100% COMPLETED,  we will go over it in class.  If your child does NOT complete the study guide- they will be allowed to work on it in the next room.  However, those students in the next room do not get to participate in the discussion of the right answers.
