Bolton Math and ELA

Math: none, had quiz today, most did well.
ELA: none, students finished missing work and final essay for this quarter.
 
Homeroom tomorrow: Last week, students were given a flyer about our class party that is tomorrow.  They can bring in board games for the morning.  They were to bring in snacks based on their last name for the afternoon.
 
A through Hag: Drinks (juice, pop, etc.)
Hor through Moo: Salty snack
Mor through Sta: Sweet snack
Ste through Wil: Napkins/plates, cups, etc.
 
Right now we have plenty of plates, napkins and cups, thank you.  Hopefully more snack will arrive tomorrow.

We are doing an ABC Book for Ancient India and Ancient China.  This little booklet is due WED. Dec. 17th  It will count a a test grade, as students are learning vocabulary and showing knowledge of concepts through writing and drawing.

Math: The students practice multiplying decimals and began reviewing for the Mid Module 2 Quiz.  We will go over the review before the quiz.
Homework: Complete the Review Packet for the Mid-Module 2 Quiz
 
Science: The students graphed Sounding Data for specific cities then predicted the weather.  The students were given a study guide to help prepare for the Investigation 6 Quiz on Friday.  They should practice this information and be prepared to ask questions tomorrow if there is something they do not understand.
Homework: Look over the Study Guide!  Test on Friday!

SOCIAL STUDIES TEST ON THURSDAY

The students were given the two essay-type question on Wednesday.  They had the opportunity to look up the answers and write them down.  They may not use these written answers on the test, however. They will be allowed to use their Cornell notes- and because of this assistance- I have moved the test up by one day.

Math: The students discovered what a reciprocal fraction is and used this to find the quotient to a division problem involving fractions. We also practiced using a partitive division to solve problems.

Science: The students found the current dew point temperature in our room and compared it to the actual dew point.  We were REALLY close!! (Some groups were spot on!)

Stewart/Miller Social Studies & Math

Social Studies:  Review Questions (HW) was collected.  We started Active Reading Note-Taking packet for pages 17-23.  This was not intended for HW, however students were encouraged to make a decision: "Will I be able to finish in class on Wednesday, or should I do a couple of pages at home tonight?"
 
Math:  Much of the period was spent checking and discussing Lesson 11 HW.  We started Lesson 12, but not enough to assign the HW.

Peck Math/Science

Math: The students learned how to create equations using ratio tables.

Science: The class discussed what causes seasons and began calculating daylight hours for the 12 months of the year.

Stewart/Miller Social Studies & Math


Social Studies:  Today we partner read Mesopotamia Chapter 1.2 (pages 16-23)  Review Questions 1-5 were to be completed with the same partner, but Question 6 was to be completed individually.  Unfinished work was considered HW.
 
Math:  Mid Module assessments were returned.  Late and missing assignments were attached.  Poor scores are to be fixed, with a parent signature, and returned before Friday the 19th.  We started Lesson 11 over, and the Problem Set and Exit Ticket are HW due Tuesday.
 
Camp Surf payment is due this week.  Please send $50.00 by Thursday.  Next payment is due in November.

WOO-HOO  Working towards Greek and Roman Day on the 21st!  In all classes we have been going over Daily Life in Rome (p. 302) We are working on our plays and props.  Mr Bolton's class- please bring in any BIG cardboard you have to make your Spartan shields.  Mrs. Stewart's class- work on your lines for the plays.
