Peck Language Arts/Science

Language Arts: The students completed the first summary and journal entry for My side of the Mountain
Homework: Spelling Packets, Summary/Journal entries, and Jump Start will all be collected tomorrow!
 
Science: The students assembled mini-sprouters so that we can observe the germination process.

Language Arts: the students finished the final copy of the argument essay and received books and information for the next literature study.
Homework: Final Copies due tomorrow!
 
Science: The students dissected a lima bean looking for evidence of life in Mrs. Stewart's and Mr. Bolton's class.  Mrs. Peck's class studied the functions of a cell's organelles.
Homework: Mrs. Peck's class - study the cell!

Homework: Complete the counter argument paragraph and pages 84-90, questions 1-9 in Buckle Down.
 
Science: the students shared their completed cell models and shared the functions of specific organelles.
Homework: Be ready to present tomorrow!

There is no Buckle Down Homework tonight!  Students must have Introduction and Body Paragraph rough draft complete for tomorrow!

PEck Language Arts/Science

Language Arts: The students began working on their body paragraphs of the argument essay.  Buckle Down review focused on Author's Purpose and Technique
Homework: Spelling Packets are due tomorrow.  Buckle Down practice pages 98-101 questions 1-8
 
Science: The students completed the "Challenge of the Chilly Mammoth" and worked on cell projects.
Homework: Be sure to bring in your cell materials tomorrow so we can work on the project!
 
**We will have a short Valentine's Day celebration from 3:00 - 3:30.  Students are welcome to bring in Valentine cards, a treat and their own drink for this time. **

Update:  Students must write the summary of the last pages they read and then do the two assignments. (see previous post)

STEWART- Reading

Finally done with our BOOK!!!! Your summary is two parts  1) 25 words " If you were the author what would you have done differently?"
2) 25 words: " Tell me two things that you liked or didn't like about the story"
 
THIS IS DUE on Thursday!!
 
We are beginning our AIMS practice and Buckle Down.

Social Studies

WOO-HOO  Working towards Greek and Roman Day on the 21st!  In all classes we have been going over Daily Life in Rome (p. 302) We are working on our plays and props.  Mr Bolton's class- please bring in any BIG cardboard you have to make your Spartan shields.  Mrs. Stewart's class- work on your lines for the plays. 

Bolton Math and L.A.

Math: Test postponed until tomorrow.  We reviewed more today with trapezoid areas.
 
L.A.: Spelling Packet assigned.  We will be spending time practicing our Greek and Roman play during L.A. for much of the next week and a half.
 

Peck Language Arts/Science

Language Arts: The students began formulating their argument by listing reasons and developing a thesis statement.
Homework: Steps 1-6 due in the argument essay packet; Buckle Down p. 80-83
 
Science: The students developed a cell model and identified the functions of organelles within the cell.
Homework: Begin gathering your materials for the cell model project!  We will be working on your cell model projects in class on Thursday and Friday!  Video worksheets will be corrected in class tomorrow.  Research those answers you're not sure of!
