Students were given a Holiday Party handout for next week.  They were told to disregard the part about a peanut allergy in the "Sweets Selection".  That is from last year when we had a SEVERE allergy child in class and I forgot to remove it from the sheet before copying.
 
Math: Continuing Review in Class.  Many students will be out tomorrow for Band/Chorus/Drumline field trip, but should be practicing problems from p. 25 in IMN for review.

(FRI:  Sec 3)  THERE WILL BE A TEST NEXT WEEK and the students will be allowed to use their Foldable on the test.

WANT TO GO TO CAMP SURF AS A CHAPERONE????

While we have not picked chaperones for the trip yet, EVERY parent going will have to have completed the Volunteer Training.  The easiest one to attend,for most people, is THIS Thursday Sept 5th at 7:00pm in the school cafeteria.  Other trainings will be held during the day in upcoming months.
 
The training doesn't take very long- under an hour.  So, if you are interested in being a chaperone for this trip- or volunteering in the school- please attend!!

Welcome back to a brand new year. Our first full day is Monday, August 12, 2013. Our school start times are; first bell at 8:30 for release to the field, first school start bell will be 8:40 a.m., and school begins promptly at 8:45 a.m.

We welcome Mrs. Peck back to our Sixth Grade team this year as our Science teacher.  Mr. Bolton comes back as our Math teacher.  Mrs. Stewart remains as our Social Studies teacher.  All teachers will teach Language Arts to their homeroom.

For Tuesday each student should either bring a book of their choice or plan on going to our library to choose a book of the appropriate reading level. On Wed. the first entry is due.  Each entry must have a summary and then a response to the reflective piece for that day. Students have a packet with all the assignments and the due dates of each.

Camp Surf

Check the weather at Camp Surf

Students should be at school by 5:30 a.m. on Monday, April 22 for our trip to Camp Surf.  We will be loading buses and leaving at 6:00 a.m.
Students can have 3 items of luggage; a suitcase or bag with their clothes and main items, a backpack for snacks on the bus or to carry toiletry items, and their bedding (don't forget a pillow).  It is recommended that their sleeping bag or other bedding be put in a garbage bag with a strip of duct tape with their name on it.  Sometimes it is dusty or even muddy in the parking lot where we unload.
We will be returning on Wednesday, April 24 at around 7:30 p.m. or even 8:00 p.m.  You can call the school as the time approaches for a more specific time of arrival.  Students will also be able to call from the bus as we get closer to home.
See you at the beach!!!

AIMS

Next week is AIMS week.  Writing will be on Monday with Reading and Math each day there after.  No testing is on Friday unless there are makeups to complete.
 
Please make sure your child is fed and well rested for the testing.  Many times, teachers use the results of AIMS testing to build groups the following year for Math and/or Reading.  We want to make sure that the results are as accurate as possible.  So, please encourage your child to put their all into it, not to rush, and to be thoughtful about each question.
