Peck Math/Science

Math: We went over the test from yesterday, reviewed and made corrections.  The students were given the option of retaking a similar test to improve their grade.
Homework: None
 
Science: The students shared convection cell drawings and complete the Inv. 5 Notebook Quiz
Homework: Finish the Notebook Quiz if needed, and prepare for the test tomorrow!
 
**Don't forget Fun-size Candy Bars!  Mrs. Stewart's, Mr. Bolton's, and Mrs. Peck's class need 3 Musketeer Bars!**

Science: The students reviewed the process of convection and how all the heat transfers work together to form a convection cell.

**A few students volunteered to bring in "fun size" Milky Ways and 3 Musketeer bars for a science lab we will be doing on Friday.  Please send these in by Thursday is you are able to donate.**

Bolton ELA and MAth

Math: Complete exercises 2 and 3 from Lesson 24/25 handouts. (intro. to percents)
 
ELA: Complete questions from Divergent.  Students had a great deal of time in class to complete over the last couple of class periods and a good 30 minutes today to discuss with their groups before completing.

Peck Math/Science

Math: The class reviewed the concepts covered in Module 1, completed some practice problems, and prepared for the Module 1 Test tomorrow
Homework: Be ready for the test tomorrow!
 
Science: The class reviewed the process of convection and witnessed a convection current inside a chamber.
Homework: Answer questions from the "Convection" article in your notebook.

Peck Math/Science

Math: The students worked (and struggled a bit) on finding the percent of a given quantity.  We will be working on this tomorrow as well. 
Homework: Lesson 26 Exercises 2b, 3a/b
 
Science: The students completed the Investigation 4 Notebook Quiz and reviewed for the test tomorrow.
Homework: Be prepared for the Investigation 4 Test tomorrow!

Bolton Math and ELA

Math: Lesson 20 Exploratory Challenge problems 1 - 11.  Calculators can be used for the decimal division of the money ratios.  Students had 30 minutes in class to get started on this.  They are practice problems for using unit rates to compare (from lesson 19)
 
ELA: any center activity not finished in class.

Peck Math/Science

Math: The students developed strategies to change fractions into percents.
Homework: Lesson 25 - Complete the table in Exercise 5; Students should be fixing their errors, or retaking the test from last Thursday, if given that option, for a higher grade. These tests are due tomorrow and must have a parent signature no matter what the score.
 
Science: The students reviewed how energy is transferred into the atmosphere.
Homework: Complete the 6 Think Questions form the article "Heating the Earth".  Be prepared for the Notebook Quiz tomorrow and the Investigation 4 Test on Thursday!

Math: the students learned what percent means (out of 100) and how to convert percent to fraction/decimal form.
Homework: Lesson 24 Problem Set
 
Science: We reviewed conduction and radiation as forms of heat transfer.
Homework: Answer the four questions regarding heat conduction in your notebook.

Social Studies:  Guided Reading Notes were to be completed and checked today.  Reviewed for test on Thursday. 
 
Math:  Presented Lesson 19--Using Tables, Equations and Graphs to compare Rates.  HW Problem Set and Exit Ticket.
 
Conference Time preference notes went home last week.  Only a few have returned.  First returned get first choice of times.  Thank-you!
 
Cookie Dough order info also went out last week.  Orders and money are due Friday October 17th.

Peck Math/Science

Math: The students learned how to calculate distance when given a rate and amount of time. D=R x T
Homework: Lesson 22 Problem Set
 
Science: The students attempted to warm freezing water using only hot water and NO mixing.
Homework: The Hot Water Challenge Lab Report needs to be completed through the Results section only

Math: The students divided two quantities and evaluated coordinate graphs to discover the "better buy".
