The students learned how wind is created today.  We looked at the 4 types of local winds and how they are named and how they are created.

The students got their tests back from Investigation 7 and reflected on their performance.  Next I introduced our new unit, Air Pressure and Wind.  We did a mini investigation that showed how pressure affects air and water. 
 
Homework: Complete the Thinking Questions at the end of the article, "What is Air Pressure" in your spiral notebooks. Due Tuesday!

I apologize for not posting yesterday's homework. Fortunately everyone was prepared today! We reviewed how a cloud is formed and wrote the 5 main steps involved in cloud formation.  The students also competed a reading on Observing Clouds and answered the 5 questions at the end.

Homework: If you did not finish the Thinking Questions at the end of the article, they are due for Monday! 

Reminder! If you are entering the Cloud Poem Contest, your poem needs to be on a separate piece of paper with your name and period.

Today the students reviewed evaporation and condensation. I performed a demonstration that showed how increased pressure can cause an increase in temperature.  The students discussed what they observed and came to this conclusion that an increase in pressure causes an increase in temperature.

Peck-Science Homework

Today we discussed requirements for the upcoming trip to the AZ Science Center on Wednesday and reviewed dew point. We learned how to calculate the relative humidity in the classroom by comparing a wet bulb thermometer temperature with a dry bulb thermometer temperature and reading a humidity calculator.

HW: Read "Dragon's Breath" p. 34-36 and answer the 4 Thinking Questions in your notebooks.
